Wild Country have identified a manufacturing fault on a small quantity of Friends, sizes 2, 3 and 4 and are asking customers to inspect items purchased in 2016 or 2017 using the guidelines provided on the Wild Country website.
The malfunction could cause the cam lobe assembly to slide down the stem cable when the trigger is activated. This will NOT put the climber at any immediate risk and the camming device will serve to hold a fall. However, the effect of the fault reduces the control of the cam assembly, such that the lobes cannot be fully retracted.
No safety critical incidents have been reported; however, in the interest of customer safety, which is always our first priority, Wild Country has decided to voluntarily issue a notice to inspect.
We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and thank our customers in advance for their cooperation in helping us to identify all the affected Friend 2, 3 and 4 for return and replacement.”
